Scholarships
Scholarships are financial awards that help pay for college—and you don’t have to pay them back. They’re offered by colleges, nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations. Scholarships can be based on academics, financial need, leadership, talents, or even your background and interests.
Types of Scholarships
- Merit-Based Scholarships - Awarded for academic achievement, leadership, or special talents (like music, athletics, or art).
- Need-Based Scholarships - Given to students who demonstrate financial need, often based on FAFSA or TASFA information.
- Institutional Scholarships - Offered directly by colleges and universities. These may be automatic based on GPA/test scores or require a separate application.
- Local Scholarships - Provided by community groups, school districts, churches, and local businesses. These are often less competitive and easier to win!
- National Scholarships - Available to students across the country. These may have larger awards but more applicants.
