Advanced Academics
Apprentices have access to a variety of advanced academic programs designed to challenge their thinking, deepen their learning, and prepare them for college and career success. These opportunities include Dual Credit, OnRamps, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Dual Credit
Dual Credit courses allow apprentices to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. These courses are offered through partner colleges and require prior approval. Apprentices must meet eligibility requirements and commit to college-level expectations. Successful completion can lead to transferable college credit and a head start on postsecondary goals.
OnRamps
OnRamps courses, developed by The University of Texas at Austin, provide a rigorous college experience while still in high school. Apprentices engage in project-based learning, critical thinking, and academic writing, with the opportunity to earn college credit based on performance. OnRamps emphasizes independent learning and college readiness.
Advanced Placement (AP)
AP courses offer college-level curriculum and exams in a high school setting. These courses are designed to challenge apprentices academically and prepare them for the rigor of college coursework. Apprentices who perform well on AP exams may earn college credit or advanced placement at many universities.
