At I.M. Terrell Academy, Counseling Services are Uniquely DesignEd with Students in Mind. Our counseling program is not separate from the school’s mission — it is central to it. We believe that developing students’ academic skills, artistic talents, creative problem-solving abilities, and resilience is just as important as providing them with social, emotional, and career guidance.

The vision of I.M. Terrell Academy — to create a learning environment that nurtures artistic talents, creative thinkers, and innovate problem solvers who will impact the global landscape for generations to come — lives at the heart of our counseling services.

Our counselors advance this vision by helping students recognize their strengths, set meaningful goals, and grow into leaders who are prepared for a changing world. Guided by the school’s mission to empower global, visionary leaders through progressive education and collaboration across disciplines, we create opportunities for students to connect their learning to their futures.

Program Framework

Following the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model, our counseling program ensures a balanced approach across four key areas:

  1. Prevention Education & Life Skills Curriculum – proactive lessons that build healthy habits and strong character.

  2. Responsive Services – timely support when students face crises, transitions, or barriers to learning.

  3. Individual Student Planning – guiding students in setting academic and career goals that align with their passions and talents.

  4. System Support – collaborating with teachers, families, and community partners to strengthen every student’s opportunities.

Supporting Every Student

Life brings challenges — from relationships and emotional crises to academic pressures and career decisions. Sometimes these moments are exciting; sometimes they are difficult. Our counselors are trained to walk beside students through each of these stages, offering tools, strategies, and encouragement.
