Purpose & Goals

The TFME Club at I.M. Terrell Academy is designed for students in grades 9–12 who are interested in pursuing careers in music education. The club provides a platform for aspiring music educators to explore the profession, gain insight into college preparation, and serve the school’s musical community through volunteerism and leadership.

Planned Activities & Meeting Schedule

Throughout the academic year, TFME members will participate in monthly meetings focused on music education pathways, volunteer service supporting school music programs and events, informational sessions on preparing for college music education majors, opportunities to assist with rehearsals, performances, and music-related outreach, and discussions with current music educators and professionals. Meetings are held once or twice a month during lunch in Room 1122 or the Band Hall.

Support for Student Development

Participation in TFME helps students develop leadership, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of music education. Members gain hands-on experience in supporting musical ensembles, preparing for future careers, and engaging in meaningful service to their school community.

Alignment with Mission, Motto, Vision, and Core Values (MMVC)

TFME aligns with I.M. Terrell Academy’s MMVC by promoting critical thinking, artistic growth, and intellectual engagement. Through volunteerism, rehearsal support, and career exploration, students are empowered to become thoughtful leaders and advocates for the arts. The club fosters creativity, discipline, and a commitment to excellence in alignment with the academy’s mission and values.

Compliance with Senate Bill 12

The Texas Future Music Educators Club complies fully with the requirements of Texas Senate Bill 12. The club does not engage in discussions or activities related to sexual orientation or gender identity. All participating students must submit a signed FWISD Parent Consent Form to ensure parental awareness and approval of their involvement.
