Purpose & Goals
Planned Activities & Meeting Schedule
General club meetings are held every Thursday during lunch. The introductory meeting will feature a presentation and a survey to learn more about members’ science backgrounds, interests, and hobbies. If launching a full Science Olympiad chapter proves too ambitious, the club will still offer engaging STEM activities such as the Lemon Volcano Experiment, Rock Candy / Crystalline Reactions, Bottle Rocket Launch, Balloon Car Engineering, CAD Design Contest, and more exciting projects throughout the year.
Support for Student Development
STEM is woven into everyday life, and this club helps students deepen their understanding of science beyond the classroom. By exploring new topics and participating in hands-on challenges, students develop creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. The club also encourages students to consider future careers in STEM fields and become visionary leaders in their communities.
Alignment with Mission, Motto, Vision, and Core Values (MMVC)
The Science Olympiad / STEM Club embodies I.M. Terrell Academy’s commitment to nurturing creative thinkers and innovative problem solvers. It offers a dynamic learning environment that supports intellectual growth and honors the core value of “honoring our history as we write our future.” By expanding students’ scientific knowledge and encouraging exploration, the club helps shape future leaders and changemakers.
Compliance with Senate Bill 12
The Science Olympiad / STEM Club complies fully with the requirements of Texas Senate Bill 12. The club does not engage in discussions or activities related to sexual orientation or gender identity. All participating students must submit a signed FWISD Parent Consent Form to ensure parental awareness and approval of their involvement.
