Purpose & Goals

The Robotics Team at I.M. Terrell Academy is focused on building and programming robots and drones for competitions including UIL Academic, VEX Robotics, and Bell Advanced Vertical Robotics. The team also fundraises to support expenses such as registration, travel, and materials, and mentors middle school students to promote STEM through outreach and community events.

Planned Activities & Meeting Schedule

Throughout the academic year, members will design, build, and program robots and drones; prepare for and compete in local, regional, and national robotics competitions; participate in fundraising efforts to support club goals; and host outreach events to engage younger students in STEM. Meetings are held weekly, with additional sessions scheduled as needed.

Support for Student Development

Participation in the Robotics Team enhances students’ skills in engineering, coding, teamwork, and leadership. Members gain real-world experience in project management, problem-solving, and collaboration while preparing for competitive and community-based events.

Alignment with Mission, Motto, Vision, and Core Values (MMVC)

The Robotics Team supports I.M. Terrell Academy’s MMVC by fostering creative thinkers, innovative problem solvers, and community leaders. Through robotics, students engage in a uniquely designed educational experience that prepares them for future academic and career success in STEM fields, while also promoting collaboration, resilience, and leadership.

The Robotics Team complies fully with the requirements of Texas Senate Bill 12. The club does not engage in discussions or activities related to sexual orientation or gender identity. All participating students must submit a signed FWISD Parent Consent Form to ensure parental awareness and approval of their involvement.
