Purpose & Goals
The National History Day Club at I.M. Terrell Academy is dedicated to cultivating historical thinking, research skills, and creative presentation. Students explore historical topics aligned with a national theme, develop compelling theses, and present their findings in engaging formats that educate and inspire.
Planned Activities & Meeting Schedule
- Research historical topics connected to the annual National History Day theme
- Develop a thesis and historical argument to support their perspective
- Create engaging presentations such as exhibits, documentaries, websites, performances, or papers
- Receive and respond to feedback to refine their work for competition and public display
Meetings are held monthly during lunch in Room 1208, with additional sessions scheduled as needed for project development and competition preparation.
Support for Student Development
Participation in the National History Day Club enhances students’ research, writing, and critical thinking skills. Members gain hands-on experience in historical inquiry, creative expression, and public presentation—skills that support academic success and lifelong learning.

The National History Day Club supports I.M. Terrell Academy’s MMVC by encouraging intellectual curiosity, artistic creativity, and interdisciplinary learning. Students engage deeply with history, develop unique research products, and contribute to the legacy of historical scholarship through collaboration and innovation.
Compliance with Senate Bill 12
The National History Day Club complies fully with the requirements of Texas Senate Bill 12. The club does not engage in discussions or activities related to sexual orientation or gender identity. All participating students must submit a signed FWISD Parent Consent Form to ensure parental awareness and approval of their involvement.
