Purpose & Goals
For over 40 years, the National Art Honor Society has recognized outstanding visual arts students and their educators. At I.M. Terrell Academy, NAHS supports students in achieving excellence in art scholarship, character, and service. The club provides opportunities for leadership, peer recognition, college and career preparation, and community engagement—while promoting the value of art education within schools and the broader community.
Planned Activities & Meeting Schedule
- Weekly Meetings: Held every Monday during lunch in the 2D Art Studio (Room 2101)
- Monthly Planning Sessions: First Thursday of each month after school from 4:45–5:00 PM to organize major projects and art events
- Community Engagement: Participation in art-related volunteer opportunities, including mural projects, gallery installations, and school beautification efforts
- Fundraisers & Events: Hosting art shows, sales, and collaborative exhibitions to raise funds and promote student work
- Peer Recognition & Leadership: Opportunities to lead workshops, mentor younger artists, and represent the visual arts program at school-wide events
- College & Career Preparation: Guidance on building portfolios, applying to art programs, and exploring careers in the visual arts
Support for Student Development
NAHS fosters artistic excellence, leadership, and civic responsibility. Members gain experience in event planning, community outreach, and creative collaboration, while building a strong foundation for future academic and professional success in the arts.

The National Art Honor Society aligns with I.M. Terrell Academy’s MMVC by promoting creative thinking, artistic expression, and community leadership. Through service and scholarship, NAHS members embody the academy’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the visual arts.
Compliance with Senate Bill 12
The National Art Honor Society complies fully with the requirements of Texas Senate Bill 12. The club does not engage in discussions or activities related to sexual orientation or gender identity. All participating students must submit a signed FWISD Parent Consent Form to ensure parental awareness and approval of their involvement.
