Support for Student Development
Chess Club supports student growth by enhancing critical thinking, pattern recognition, and strategic planning. Students gain hands-on experience in problem-solving and decision-making, while also building confidence and collaboration through gameplay and discussion.
Alignment with Mission, Motto, Vision, and Core Values (MMVC)
The Chess Club aligns with I.M. Terrell Academy’s MMVC by nurturing creative thinkers and innovative problem solvers. Through analysis and competition, students learn to assess situations, adapt strategies, and think several steps ahead—skills that are essential both in and beyond the classroom.
Compliance with Senate Bill 12
The Chess Club complies fully with the requirements of Texas Senate Bill 12. The club does not engage in discussions or activities related to sexual orientation or gender identity. All participating students must submit a signed FWISD Parent Consent Form to ensure parental awareness and approval of their involvement.
