Purpose & Goals

The I.M. Terrell Cat Club is dedicated to fostering compassion, responsibility, and advocacy for the well-being of cats and kittens in our community. Through education, outreach, and hands-on service, the club empowers students to make a positive impact in the lives of animals—especially our feline friends.

Planned Activities & Meeting Schedule

Education on Cat Care
  • Teach members about proper nutrition, grooming, health, and behavior
  • Host guest speakers such as veterinarians, shelter staff, and rescue volunteers
  • Share resources on responsible pet ownership
Helping Outdoor Cats
  • Educate students on how to assess and respond to stray or feral cats
  • Promote safe and humane practices for interacting with outdoor cats
  • Provide information on local support services
Volunteering at Local Shelters
  • Organize regular volunteer trips to shelters and rescue organizations
  • Assist with feeding, cleaning, socializing cats, and adoption events
  • Encourage students to log volunteer hours for service learning
TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Awareness
  • Teach the importance of TNR in managing feral cat populations
  • Partner with local programs for supervised observation or participation
  • Advocate for humane population control
Community Engagement
  • Create educational posters, social media content, and newsletters
  • Build partnerships with local animal organizations for mentorship and collaboration

Support for Student Development

The Cat Club helps students develop empathy, responsibility, and leadership through service and advocacy. Members gain hands-on experience, build community connections, and learn how to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals.

The Cat Club reflects I.M. Terrell Academy’s commitment to creative thinking, community engagement, and compassionate leadership. By providing a learning environment outside the classroom, the club supports students in becoming thoughtful, informed, and active citizens.

Compliance with Senate Bill 12

The Cat Club complies fully with the requirements of Texas Senate Bill 12. The club does not engage in discussions or activities related to sexual orientation or gender identity. All participating students must submit a signed FWISD Parent Consent Form to ensure parental awareness and approval of their involvement.
