Purpose & Goals
The Carnations Club provides a safe and inclusive space for students to explore history—especially the stories and contributions of minority communities. The club’s goal is to educate and empower students by highlighting diverse historical figures, events, and cultural narratives throughout the school year.
Planned Activities & Meeting Schedule
Carnations Club meets weekly on Fridays during lunch in Room 1211. Activities include historical learning sessions, monthly craft or reflection activities, and student-led initiatives that evolve throughout the year based on member interests and input.
Support for Student Development
This club supports student growth by deepening historical awareness, encouraging self-expression, and fostering meaningful connections among peers. It offers a welcoming environment where students can learn, share, and build community through shared experiences and dialogue.
Alignment with Mission, Motto, Vision, and Core Values (MMVC)
Carnations Club reflects I.M. Terrell Academy’s commitment to honoring history while shaping the future. By creating learning opportunities outside the classroom, the club helps students connect classroom knowledge with real-world relevance. It also reinforces the core value of “honoring our history as we write our future,” encouraging students to recognize the impact of role models and historical context in their personal development.
