Attendance
Need to report an absence?
There are multiple ways to report an absence:
- Email our attendance clerk, Marcela Rivas, at marcela.rivas@fwisd.org, or
- Submit necessary documentation in Focus, or
- Send appropriate documentation with the student upon their return to school
Why does attendance matter?
We know school attendance is important, but did you know:

Students who attend school regularly achieve at higher levels than students who do not attend school regularly

Students who miss 10% of the school year are missing nearly 1 month of instruction

A history of chronic absenteeism is a common trait among high school dropouts
Attendance Restoration
Students are expected to make up all absences and complete any assignments missed in each class. Students who attend attendance restoration sessions may recover attendance credit at a rate of one (1) hour per absence. Failure to make up absences may result in loss of credit if the 90% attendance requirement is not met. The 90% rule is applied on a per-semester basis.
