Attendance
Need to report an absence?
There are multiple ways to report an absence:
- Email our attendance clerk, Marcela Rivas, at marcela.rivas@fwisd.org, or
- Submit necessary documentation in Focus, or
- Send appropriate documentation with the student upon their return to school
Why does attendance matter?
We know school attendance is important, but did you know:
-
Students who attend school regularly achieve at higher levels than students who do not attend school regularly
-
Students who miss 10% of the school year are missing nearly 1 month of instruction
-
A history of chronic absenteeism is a common trait among high school dropouts
Attendance Restoration
The expectation is students make up all absences and assignments for each class missed. Students who attend attendance restoration sessions will receive credit for attendance in the ratio of one (1) hour for each absence. Failure to make up absences may result in the withholding of credit if the 90% rule of attendance is not met.
Attendance Restoration for Fall 2025 semester is CLOSED.
