Connecting Cultures Through World Languages
At I.M. Terrell’s Department of World Languages, apprentices are invited to expand their horizons by learning Spanish and French. Here, language study is not just about vocabulary and grammar—it is about developing cultural awareness, global perspective, and the ability to communicate across borders. Our program encourages apprentices to embrace curiosity, empathy, and openness as they explore the richness of diverse communities.
Courses immerse apprentices in Spanish and French through speaking, listening, reading, and writing. By engaging with authentic texts, conversations, and cultural traditions, apprentices gain both linguistic proficiency and a deeper appreciation for the people and histories behind each language.
Immersive Experiences That Shape Global Citizens
The study of world languages at I.M. Terrell extends beyond the classroom. Apprentices participate in cultural celebrations, interactive projects, and community engagement activities that bring languages to life. Experiences may include guest speakers, cultural events, and opportunities to connect with native speakers, giving apprentices meaningful practice in real-world contexts.
These experiences are not occasional—they are essential. They prepare apprentices to see the world through multiple perspectives and to engage with people from diverse backgrounds with respect and understanding.
Voices That Resonate Beyond the Classroom
Throughout their journey at I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM and VPA, apprentices in world languages are encouraged to share their learning and cultural insights. Whether through presentations, performances, or community outreach, apprentices develop the confidence to use their language skills authentically. By graduation, they leave not only with the ability to communicate in Spanish or French but also with the awareness and adaptability to thrive in a global community.
